Startup Fashion Week 2017: The Future of Fashion

There are thousands of designers who are trying to carve their name into the fashion landscape, but those who attended this year’s Startup Fashion Week have a leg up on the competition. The world’s only fashion week that focuses on fashion, business, and technology continues to celebrate, support and connect entrepreneurs in the fashion and fashion tech industry.

Once again, I was thrilled to attend an event that features such a vibrant and thriving community. This year when stepping foot into the forums and interviews I decided to take a different approach. Rather than standing back and absorbing the conversations and basking in the stunning designs I wanted to discover the raw reasons how these startups came to be.

HOW A NEED TO CONNECT TO A COMMUNITY TURNED INTO A FASHION TECH STARTUP – MEET INLIGHTEN

Before #SFWToronto officially kicked off, I had the opportunity to meet up with Eddy Song of Inlighten. Designed to help people stand out—particularly at raves—Eddy developed a line of fibre-optic clothing and accessories. As someone who has never attended a rave and has seen her fair share of light up clothing, I was unsure of how this interview would go!
